United Voices of Literacy is grassroots 501c3  focusing on improving the greater Los Angeles community, one person at a time. UVOL's individualistic approach is highly impactful, engaging with students one-on- one who struggle with reading, writing and comprehension.​ This charity is close to Margot's heart because it combines her passions for literature and helping others.

Margot started volunteering in 2013 as a tutor and has been an integral member since inception. After a few sessions, students​ quickly transform into confident and articulate young readers. It is common for students to improve at least 3 grade levels after working with UVOL for ​o​ne term. Witnessing this metamorphosis is the most rewarding part of being involved with UVOL. ​Many students come in timid and unsure of themselves. After a few sessions, it's as if a veil is lifted and the students are laughing, smiling, confident and at long last  -- reading aloud. The self esteem built ​working with tutors will last ​these young students a lifetime.

In 2021 UVOL embarked upon its very first mentorship program between Margot and Christian, a student who has aspirations to become a real estate agent. Inspiring students to reach their dreams is a cornerstone of UVOL and the organization plans to pair more students with career mentors.
